House Yard

This is the yard in front of my split foyer home that needs help badly! It has old landscaping that looks terrible and I am flustered. I like a fun, spunky, but modern look. I will be doing it DIY so it can't be anything too crazy. I don't know a lot about plants, but I like plants that will be pretty for as long as possible through the year.
