Gicts' Front Yard

Help me uncover the potential!
I recently purchased this house and am looking to bring out the beauty that is begging to be seen.
It is a modest ranch house with a long front yard with 2 large acorn trees and a long driveway.
I'm looking to redo the landscaping into something much more appealing, but not sure where to start. I'd like to keep the trees....but that's about it. The shrub surely needs to go. The front is North facing.
I'm thinking small pieces and a little retaining action may not overpower the fact it's a modest one story.
Any help would be appreciated!
